Holly V/s Bolly

Watched 2 movies this month - 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2' and 'Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara'. For some odd reason I wanted to compare  these 2 movies. Is it because, both have my favorite lead roles? May be. Is it because I waited eagerly with high expectations for both to release? May be. The important question - Did I like the movies? 

Honestly, I am disappointed with Harry Potter. I had such high expectations for this movie. Besides the hype that was created, I wanted to visually experience the book and feel the anger to destroy The Dark Lord (personally). Sadly, I couldn't enjoy it to the fullest. The movies from 3rd through 7th have not met the image created by the 1st 2, let alone meet the standards of the book. An epic battle was to  be there between Harry and Voldy, an era was supposed to come to an end...Nope! I saw none of that. Throughout the battle, all I could see were sparks and all I could hear were Voldy's screams. Why was he screaming so much? 

Anyway, I think I may want to read the book and relive the fantasy the book had originally created in my mind.

Jumping to the  Bollywood release ZNMD, I have mixed opinion about it, mainly because I kind of compared it to Dil Chahta Hai. I did certainly enjoy the movie as it took me to the joyous ride of life (not the sky-diving though), portrayed how little we enjoy life in our busy schedules. The best part in the entire movie was the poetry recited by Farhan Akhtar, written beautifully by Javed Akhtar. Naturally, I fell in love with every single line, every single word. By far the best lines were: 

Jab jab dard ka baadal chaya 

Jab gham ka saya lehraya

Jab aansoo palkon tak aya

Jab yeh tanha dil ghabraya

Humne dil ko yeh samjhaya

Dil aakhir tu kyun rota hai

Duniya mein yunhi hota hai

Yeh jo gehre sannate hain

Waqt ne sabko hi baante hain

Thoda ghum hai sabka qissa

Thodi dhoop hai sabka hissa

Aankh teri bekaar hi nam hai

Har pal ek naya mausam hai

Kyun tu aise pal khota hai

Dil aakhir tu kyun rota hai
